“Start Right’s Chess Camp got my son Caleb started on his chess journey. Thanks to Coach Mac and Coach Majur’s warmth, enthusiasm, and personal connection — along with engaging lessons that were just right for his age and skill level — Caleb started a life-long love with a game that he continues to enjoy and benefit from three years later.”

Online Chess Camp is co-led by National Master Majur Juac and John McManus. “Coach Majur” is an elite mentor to rising talent in the tri-state area.  (Read more about him in the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post.) Chess Camp Co-director John McManus graduated with highest honors from Columbia University and toiled in social science.  However, after defeating a Grandmaster in an exhibition and writing a rap to explain how chess pieces move, “Coach Mac” recognized a new calling and co-founded Start Right Chess with friend Coach Majur.

Online Camp is available weekdays from Monday, July 13 through Friday, September 4. Morning sessions run from 10:00 a.m. to noon EDT and afternoon sessions from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m EDT. Parents may book “morning session weeks,” “afternoon session weeks,” or both. (And we just added individual mornings and afternoons!)

This Online Chess Training is appropriate for complete beginners ages 8 - 12; kids who already know how the pieces move and enjoy chess ages 7 - 12, and kids who have at least some prior tournament play ages 6 - 12. (We currently have a wait-list for players rated above USCF 1000. Please click here to add your child’s name.)
